Marley Marston is your typical 2 year old boy. He’s running round with his toys, trying to talk as much as he can while he’s watching Bob The Builder. Marley’s mum Laura is one of the strongest people I’ve met, but she needs more than just her strength to get through the next few months.
6 months ago Marley was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia. Since then Marley and Laura have been in between Starship and Waikato Hospital with almost no time at home. In that time their life has been turned upside down.
Next month Marley goes back into Starship Hospital for weeks or months of chemotherapy. Doctors don’t know how long it will take for the chemo to work, or if it will work at all. Marley’s body doesn’t like the chemotherapy. He is unable to walk, talk, eat, swallow, or smile even. Vomiting, diarrhea and skin burns are all part of what’s coming. This is much more than any 2 year old boy should have to go through.
Laura is doing everything she can to get her son well again, but with Marley’s new brother London only 4 weeks old and Marley’s prognosis poor, she can no longer cope relying on her family and friends alone.
Marley’s nanna is a nurse and has even taken 6 months off work to help his mum out, so the budget is tight. We want to raise as much money as we can for the Marston’s and show them that New Zealand is thinking of them.
Let us know what you think of this weeks cause…
